Here's an interesting interview from August with Guido van Rossum. He talks about Python (of course) and some related issues. Good listen.
If you develop web applications, you should look at this Google tech-talk on the Django project.
When I suddenly had to learn Python in a hurry, I used this book (among others) but this one looks really interesting, as well. Oh, and this is a really easy way to get started, too.
